From Christchurch we headed up to the resort town of Hanmer Springs, or “Hanma” as locals apparently call it. Home to naturally occurring hot mineral springs, a complex sprung up around them including quasi-natural pools, man-made pools of various temperatures to relax, a lap pool and 4 decent waterslides. Even midweek, it was quite busy! Primarily visited by retirees, it was a nice stop for 2 afternoons after school work. The resort is open year-round, and despite temps in the 50s the kids enjoyed the waterslides.
